10:15 - 11:15 Asana Technique: Embodiment of the Flow - Kyle

Synchronization of upper and lower body/ right and left body movements in your sun salutations and standing asana. To flow is an illusion, a trick to the eye of the observer and a feeling of meditation within the movement for the practitioner. Take a taste of an abstract point of view in the Ashtanga world based on what is felt, not seen.

11:15 - 11:45 Pranayama: Prana Shakti - Smith

Prana is power and vitality. First we purify, then strengthen, to allow prana to fill us with that same creative energy that created the universe.

11:45 - 12:45 Liquid Prana Breakfast

12:45 - 13:45 Gong Bath Sound Journey - Harmonia Tou Kosmou

First we share Cacao's elixir, and tell stories from the ages of this magical plant. We then activate this medicine with a dance of the chakras, breathing and consciously moving.

14:00 - 15:15 Asana Practice: Rocket Primary - Kyle

Rocket Primary with Standing series variations. This class is designed to work the strength, stability, and balance in your legs with a nice easy soft seated series. Based on a mix of primary and secondary variations.

15:15 - 16:30 Lunch on your own

16:30 - 17:00 Enlightening Lecture: Ashtanga and Fire Practices, the original Hatha Yoga - Smith

Ashtanga Yoga and tantric hatha yoga methodology combine to create the perfect platform to move toward spiritual freedom. This dialog explores the magic of hatha yoga and ashtanga practices that connect us to our life purpose and the force of spirit (awakened kundalini).

17:00 - 18:00 Asana Technique - Correct Vinyasa Secrets - Gannon

Learn some of the seemingly invisible signs of science of the original vinyasa system. Discovering and applying these details in your daily practice can switch on some mini lightbulbs of your personal practice.

18:15 -19:15 Asana Practice: Force of Spirit - Smith

Proper techniques can lead to a deeper experience of yoga – a shining both internally and externally. Considered the final and most powerful stage of practice- inner fire – the force of Spirit. This practice will focus on generating the energy that dissolves inertia in order to access the dormant channel within the spine.

19:15 - 19:30 Day-Ending Meditation: Empty and release - Kyle

Empty and release. Let it all go for a moment. Let the mind relax. No force, just ease.

7:00 - 9:00 Maha Mysore Practice (Kyle, Gannon, Smith)

Everyone moving and breathing together, doing their own practice, with personalized adjustments from all 3 teachers.

9:00 - 9:30 Liquid Prana Cold Brew Coffee Break

9:30 - 10:00 Meditation: From Finite to Infinite - Smith

Access the regenerative force in your spine, this meditation will connect you to the boundless nature of your soul.

10:15 - 11:15 Asana Technique - Fundamental Adjustments in Ashtanga - Gannon

As teachers and practitioners, an understanding of where the body can move deeper into a pose can open up a world of possibilities. Sometimes it's not seeing, but feeling that can make the difference. Other times it's not feeling but simply seeing that works.

11:15 - 11:45 Pranayama: Hyperventilate and Hypoventilate - Kyle

Hyperventilate and hypo ventilate breathing techniques and how they play a roll in altered states of perception to encourage new ways of thinking and seeing the world!

11:45 - 12:45 Liquid Prana Breakfast

12:45 - 13:45 Cacao Ceremony & Chakra Dance - Harmonia Tou Kosmou

First we share Cacao's elixir, and tell stories from the ages of this magical plant. We then activate this medicine with a dance of the chakras, breathing and consciously moving.

14:00 - 15:15 Asana Practice - Ashtanga Second Series - Gannon

Ashtanga's Nadi Shodana, or nerve purification, is not something to be taken lightly, thus rarely practiced in a guided class environment. Try the GPVY style of VKCs designed to make 2nd Series more accessible to more practitioners, so that it can actually be done in a guided class vibe.

15:15- 16:30 Lunch on your own

16:30 - 17:30 Asana Technique: Backbend Freedom - Reach for those Back Toes - Smith

Colorful and fun, backbends are accessible with a bit of preparation. We will explore chest, shoulder, and hip openers to explore new territory of the spine. Using the Eka Pada Rajakapotasana family (and further) we will have an adventure with a number of variations props included. Come in with an open mind and experience freedom in backbends!

17:45 -18:45 Asana Practice: Rocket 2 - Kyle

Join this classic twist to the secondary series of Ashtanga Yoga with 3rd, 4th, & 5th series variations and transitions! We follow a set sequence of asana derived from the classical series and encouraged individual creativity while also sharing a little extra local mexican spices for a blast of flavor!

18:45 - 19:00 Day-Ending Meditation - Training as a Tribe - Gannon

Even though yoga is a internal, self-practice, we just might be able to have a more powerful inner practice while we are expierince it in union.

Johnna Smith

Johnna is an international yoga teacher and lead teacher at Ashtanga Yoga School Charlotte. She feels her dharma is to awaken people to joy, which is our divine birthright. Her workshops, master classes and advanced yoga studies connect students to the source of joy deep within, igniting the fire within the heart.Johnna is one of the few people in the world to receive Level 2 Authorization from Sharath Jois at the KPJAYI Ashtanga Institute in Mysore, India. She has also received Level 1 Para Yoga Certification from Yoga Rupa Rod Stryker for tantra studies. In 1995 Johnna came to yoga after searching for relief from years of panic attacks and addiction. Yoga loosened the hold that fear and anxiety had on her heart, giving her the tools to manage addiction and anxiety. This led her to study with Yoga Rupa Rod Stryker in 2001 and to Sri K Pattabhi Jois in 2004. In 2013 she was honored with Level One Para Yoga Certification and in 2016 Sharath Jois blessed her with Level 2 Authorization. Johnna weaves asana, philosophy, mantra, and meditation with devotion to open the heart and awaken joy.

David Kyle- The Moola Bandha King

David Kyle was introduced to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in 2001 through a very creative and un-orthodox view of yoga asana and eastern philosophies. Through his teacher, Larry Schultz, David came to understand this ancient practice as a individualized journey that develops a deep communication between yourself and your environment. Over time both the fixed forms of Pattabhi Jois and the contemporary self-interpretive style of Larry Schultz has help to shape David's school Progressive Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. David's perspective on Rocket Yoga and Classical Ashtanga Yoga asana sequencing gives students a fresh and stimulating practice that encourages deep experiences and revelation.

Michael Gannon — The Yoga Dealer

In the late 90s, the practice of yoga lured Michael Gannon away from chaotic deal making in the American advertising and music industry. He subsequently spent 10 years studying in India with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915 – 2009) learning the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd series of the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa system. Authorized directly by Jois in 2001 to teach, Gannon has taught in over 50 countries on five continents. Having trained over 500 teachers worldwide in Ashtanga and Power Vinyasa Yoga, his unique teaching style makes the transformational powers of yoga accessible to all with the desire to learn. His live teachings have been extended over the years via many DVDs, the first ever Ashtanga Yoga App on iPhone/Android, and his first book in 2018, Ashtanga Yoga Made Simple. On his home beach in Mexico, Gannon designed, built, and directs one of the most beautiful yoga schools on the planet, Yogaloft Playa del Carmen. When he's not traveling, it is here that he spends time at the feet of his three most powerful gurus — his daughter and two sons.
